The Collection
Nearly 40 years after their creation, a collection of ten iconic “lost” digital artworks created by 20th century icon Andy Warhol have recently surfaced and are being offered for private sale starting at $26 million.
Produced when Warhol was enlisted by PC powerhouse Commodore for the launch of its supercharged Amiga 1000 computer, the collection centers on the artist's digital portrait of Blondie singer Debbie Harry. Created live onstage at Lincoln Center on July 23rd 1985, this image has been referred to as the "holy grail" of digital art by Noah Davis, former head of sales at Christie's. Further, the collection includes eight images created by Warhol during an interview with Amiga World magazine, and an experimental digital image made during the production of "Andy Warhol's Fifteen Minutes" for MTV, some previously unseen, authenticated and lent greater provenance by contemporaneously captured video and photographs of Warhol creating them.
